The inaugural participation of TRIBU SALOGNON as a contesting tribe in the Dinagyang Festival was in the year 2004 when the school management heeded the invitation of the Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. to participate in its yearly festivities.
Through the years of its continued participation in the Dinagyang Festival, the tribe earned itself numerous honors as well as prestigious awards. It even participated in other festivals outside of Iloilo City and eventually became champion in the Passi City Pintados Festival in 2008.
The crowning glory of Tribu Salognon was in 2016, when it was declared as Grand Champion in the Dinagyang Grand Ati Tribe Dance Competition and became the Iloilo City’s lone entry to Manila’s Aliwan Fiesta in the same year where it garnered the 2nd Prize Award for the Grand National Dance Competition. Because of its exemplary cultural presentation and dance performance , Tribu Salognon was invited to perform and grace the occasion of the 118th Philippine Independence Day celebration in New York City, USA in June 2016. On the same year, the tribe was invited to perform at the 50th T’nalak Festival of Koronadal City being the sister City of Iloilo City.
The winning performances of Tribu Salognon continued to soar in 2017, when the tribe was crowned as the Grand Champion of the Dinagyang Festival awards as Best in Performance, Best in Street Dance, Best in Music and Best in Costume of the year , and eventually brought back Iloilo’s pride when it was declared as the 2017 Manila Grand Champion in the Aliwan Festival with numerous awards such as Best in Costume and Best Musical Accompaniment and garnered 3rd place at the Tugtug sa Aliwan in the same year.
Owing to the tribe’s excellence and commendable cultural performance under the strong leadership of its principal Dr. Belinda V. Dinopol, the entire ensemble of Tribu Salognon has been invited to perform at the Anseong Baudeogi Festival in Anseong City, South Korea, and at the Farmers Santa Parade, in Auckland City, New Zealand, in September 26, 2017 and November 23, 2017, respectively.
